Through Young Eyes: The Shrub Steppe
April 1 – May 17, 2025
The REACH Museum proudly presents Through Young Eyes: The Shrub Steppe, a special exhibit showcasing a selection of artwork from over 600 preschool students enrolled in the ECEAP program.
Guided by a curriculum created by teaching artist Jenny Rieke, these young learners explored the shrub-steppe ecosystem—its plants, animals, and landscapes—through hands-on classroom experiences and immersive field trips. Their artwork captures the wonder and discovery of this unique environment, all interpreted through the imaginative lens of a child.
Accompanying photos document their journey of learning, exploring, and creating.
This exhibit is part of our celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Hanford Reach National Monument—home to one of the largest remaining shrub-steppe habitats in the world.
Presented in partnership with Educational Service District 123 (ESD 123) ARTS program, the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO), and the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
Come see the shrub-steppe through the eyes of our youngest artists!
