Keeping Nuclear Energy Safe | STEM Ambassador Shannon Goodwin from 2 PM – 4 PM on July 30th
- DESCRIPTION: PNNL scientists and engineers use physics and chemistry to promote peaceful and safe uses of nuclear technology while developing ways to detect and deter the non-peaceful applications of the same technology. Nuclear energy has proven to be a reliable and efficient source of electricity and provides additional benefits to the medical, scientific, and environmental communities. As nuclear energy becomes more popular around the world, it could be misused to develop nuclear weapons. The United States strives to reduce the total amount of nuclear weapons. We need future scientists and engineers to ensure that nuclear technology remains purely peaceful for a cleaner and safer tomorrow.
