Screech at the REACH

ARE YOU READY TO GET YOUR SCREECH ON?

Welcome to Screech at the REACH – the ultimate Halloween tradition that will make you unleash your inner scream! Join us at the REACH Museum as we team up with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week in October. Get ready for a spine-tingling adventure where you’ll discover the fascinating creatures that call the Mid-Columbia region home. From eerie spiders and mysterious owls to enchanting wolves and more, prepare to be amazed!

Screech at the REACH is an extraordinary indoor/outdoor event that brings together local community organizations, offering something exciting for everyone. Get up close and personal with our “special animal guests” and engage in hands-on crafts, scavenger hunts, and take-home activities. As you explore the museum galleries and the REACH grounds, you’ll receive a Screech tote bag to collect educational items and delightful take-home activities. While Screech is a mostly candy-free event, the experience is sure to be packed with fun and adventure!

We encourage attendees to dive into the Halloween spirit by dressing up as their favorite creatures from Hanford Reach. Need some inspiration? Check out the captivating Seasons of Wildlife at the Hanford Reach National Monument for a glimpse into the natural wonders of the region. Let your imagination run wild as you embody these extraordinary beings during the event.

But wait, there’s more! We’re thrilled to bring back the spine-chilling after-hours activity – our Night Hike! Join one of our knowledgeable Educators for a twilight tour of the REACH grounds. Engage all your senses as you explore the night, discover captivating stories in the stars, and learn about the remarkable ways nocturnal animals survive and thrive after the sun sets. Sharpen your hearing like a deer, sharpen your vision like an owl, and tread lightly with a fox’s stealthy footsteps. The Night Hike includes a short outdoor walk under the night sky, with several interactive activity stops and the possibility of stargazing. Remember to wear sturdy shoes and warm clothing, and for added safety, feel free to bring a light along.

Don’t miss out on this unforgettable Halloween adventure at Screech at the REACH! Join us for a celebration of the wonders of nature, a community coming together, and a hauntingly good time. Mark your calendars and get ready to let your screech out!
