Exhibited at the REACH Museum – April 1 through May 17, 2025

This special exhibit showcased a vibrant collection of artwork created by preschool students enrolled in the ECEAP program. Over 600 young learners explored the shrub-steppe ecosystem—its plants, animals, and landscapes—through classroom activities and field trips guided by a curriculum developed by teaching artist Jenny Rieke.

The children’s artwork captured the sense of wonder and discovery inspired by one of the most unique ecosystems in the Pacific Northwest. Accompanying photographs documented their journey of learning, exploration, and creative expression.

Presented in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Hanford Reach National Monument—home to one of the largest remaining shrub-steppe habitats in the world—this exhibit invited visitors to experience the landscape through the imaginative lens of a child.

Presented in partnership with:
Educational Service District 123 (ESD 123) ARTS program, Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO), and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
