Exhibited at the REACH Museum from October 4, 2025 – January 3, 2026

Visitors experienced the beauty of science in Science Is Beautiful, a traveling exhibit from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL)—a U.S. Department of Energy research center based right here in the Tri-Cities.

Originally featured at the Tri-Cities Airport, this special traveling installation brought a new collection of awe-inspiring images to the REACH Museum’s rotating Hoch Gallery. Each piece transformed cutting-edge research into art through enhanced microscopy, scientific illustration, and conceptual visualization—revealing the hidden patterns, colors, and complexity of the natural world that science uncovers every day.

As visitors explored the gallery, they could scan QR codes next to each image for an interactive look into the research behind the visuals and the innovative work taking place at PNNL.

At the front of the gallery, visitors discovered 60 Years of Scientific Brilliance, a special display celebrating PNNL’s 60th anniversary. This showcase highlighted key moments and breakthroughs across the lab’s history in fields such as clean energy, environmental science, and national security—all driven by scientists right here in our community.

The REACH Museum was honored to host this collaboration with PNNL, connecting visitors to the creativity and discovery happening in the Tri-Cities and beyond—where science truly became art.
