Screech Week launches with October’s STEAM Workshop: Spooky Science on Saturday, October 18, 2025, featuring hands-on experiments inspired by nature’s “creepy-cool” side.
Throughout the week leading up to Screech at the REACH on Friday, October 24, visitors will meet the six heroes of the League of the Night — animals that thrive across the Hanford Reach by night, by twilight, and even by day.
Each day of Screech Week, the REACH Museum will introduce a new League member through stories, challenges, and puzzles — with chances to collect two cards before the big event.
Then, during Screech at the REACH, the League comes alive with real wildlife guests, themed stations, and the debut of the members-only collector’s card that unites all six heroes.
Every Screech Trading Card features an authentic wildlife photograph paired with a comic-book-style superpower — blending real science and imagination. Collect them all and join the League of the Night!

Great Horned Owl — Silent Flight
Scientific name: Bubo virginianus
Superpower: Stealth and Precision
The owl’s fringed feathers silence its wings, allowing it to strike unseen.

Western Black Widow — Web Builder
Scientific name: Latrodectus hesperus
Superpower: Master Architect

- Detects prey through web vibrations.

Gray Wolf — Teamwork
Scientific name: Canis lupus
Superpower: Strength in Numbers
Crepuscular hunters that rely on coordinated strategy.

- Keeps ecosystems balanced by managing prey.
