Screech at the REACH

Screech at the REACH – October 24

Creatures. Night. Adventure.

It’s back. Screech at the REACH is the Tri-Cities’ ultimate Halloween tradition — where nature, science, and adventure collide.

At its core, Screech is about one thing: exploring the creatures of the night at the Hanford Reach National Monument. From spiders and owls to wolves and other nocturnal wildlife, this event celebrates the mysterious side of the natural world.

What to Expect

  • Special animal guests you can see up close

  • Hands-on crafts, scavenger hunts, and take-home activities

  • A Screech tote bag to collect discoveries (not candy — this night is fueled by curiosity, not sugar)

  • Community partner stations throughout the museum and grounds

Dress the Part

Costumes are encouraged! Need inspiration? Check out the Seasons of Wildlife at the Hanford Reach National Monument and learn more about the species of the Hanford Reach. Let the region’s nocturnal wonders spark your imagination.

The Night Hike

When the lights go down, the adventure goes up. Join our educators for a twilight hike on the REACH grounds and put your senses to the test:

  • Hear like a deer

  • See like an owl

  • Move with the stealth of a fox

Expect stargazing, interactive activity stops, and a short outdoor walk. Bring sturdy shoes, warm layers, and a flashlight if you’d like.

Admission

  • General admission applies

  • Free for REACH Members

Member Exclusive: Members will also enjoy early access to a special experience before the event begins. Details coming soon — another reason to join today.

With Support From

Screech at the REACH celebrates the creatures of the night at the Hanford Reach National Monument. We’re proud to lead this tradition each year, with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service joining us to share engaging activities and resources that highlight the wildlife of the Reach and beyond.
