Welcome to 2020 Screech Week!

 

We are so excited to share all the fun and interactive activities that we have lined up for Screech Week!  From Livestreams to short videos, to DIY crafting videos and activity sheets to Science Storytime’s, we are taking our signature event to a whole new level!

Here is how Screech Week will flow:


Friday, October 23rd

  • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Take & Make Bag Pick-up
    • Pick-up will be at The REACH Museum.
    • Please remain in your vehicle with your mask on when approaching a REACH team member.
    • Be aware of the traffic flow.


Saturday, October 24th

  • 9:30 AM, Welcome from REACH Education Manager, Pauline Schafer
  • 10:00 AM, Special Live STEAM on Apples versus Pumpkins
  • 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Second Session for Take & Make Bag Pick-up
  • 3:00 PM, Salmon at The REACH Activity
  • 6:00 – 6:30 PM, Vampire Fish (Lamprey Eels) presentation from the Pacific Lamprey Project

 



Sunday, October 25th

  • 10:00 AM, Special Sunday Science Storytime
  • 1:00 – 1:30 PM, Owl Pellet Dissection Video, featuring Wildlife Biologist, DeeAnne Meliopoulos with the Mid-Columbia River National Wildlife Refuge Complex, US Fish & Wildlife Service
    • Take & Make Activity – Designing an Owl Mask

Saturday, October 31st – Halloween!

  • 10:00 AM – Special Live STEAM: Night Hike
    • Nighttime is a great time to find owls and other nocturnal wildlife. Join Ms. Pauline to learn about how nocturnal animals’ eyes can see in the dark. Plus, learn how to use your Halloween candy to make an edible eyeball!
  • 2:00 PM – Special Live STEAM: Planetarium Show
    • Ms. Pauline shows you how to find three planets, autumn evening constellations, and how to look back in time by viewing the Andromeda Galaxy.
