The REACH Museum and Reach Foundation stand with many cultural, civic and business entities on making a statement against racism, injustice, and inequity at a time when that voice is needed most. We stand committed to do our part by creating a fair and equitable workplace, and an accessible museum that inspires learning by sharing stories of the Mid-Columbia River Region, all its people, and its impact and contributions to the world.

One of the Museum’s core values is to be an intentional, inclusive, and a reliable public partner.  We join forces with organizations like Richland Public Library, Battelle, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), STCU, Women Helping Women Fund Tri-Cities, and local Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs to make museum programs more accessible to our community. One way of doing this is to eliminate financial barriers that often prevent families and students from visiting the museum.  Looking out for vulnerable families and students is at the core of our work on equity and inclusion; and with financial grants from these organizations we are able to offer more programs free of charge.  We encourage other organizations to join us in caring for our community and providing opportunities for educational, civic and cultural engagement.

We also strive to be inclusive, and to present museum content from a variety of lenses to ensure truthfulness and to tell our stories from diverse perspectives.

Furthermore, we acknowledge our Native American partners who historically used this region—a gathering place of the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla, the Wanapum people, and the Nez Perce Tribe who cared for this land since time immemorial.

In this day of pandemic and protest, we focus on our mission, vision, and values and recommit ourselves to creating a respectful, reliable, and safe place for all visitors to learn, to explore, and be forever curious.

  • We visited the Reach Museum today and had an amazing time. The staff was courteous and helpful, and gave us a brief introduction to their museum and exhibits, as well as a back story to the change in use of the Columbia River over the last 100+ years. Excellent place for Children as well. I have 3 children between the ages of 4 and 10 and all of them found something that really interested them. Will return!

  • The museum is filled with many fun and exuberayting things to do. If I had the chance to go again I totally would and if you’re not into museums and such, you could go on an amazing walk along the Columbia River. In the museum there are a couple of main exhibits in the museum, each on more fun than the last. The only thing I wish would be that the place gets larger because it only takes about half an hour to get through the place, but overall it’s a good place to spend time.

  • Great visit. We came from Seattle to site see and visit the Columbia River. This was a nice surprise. Lots of history about the basin and interactive displays. For under $10 it's definitely a go and it's right across from Columbia park. Lots of fun!

  • The REACH Museum is a great complement to a visit to the Hanford Reach National Monument Wildlife and Wildflower Refuge, the Manhattan Project National Historical Park, and the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO). The REACH Museum tells the fascinating story of the violent geological events that created the Mid-Columbia landscape, from deep lava flows to gigantic Ice Age floods, and the unique features of the region that made it ideal for the creation of Plutonium for WW II and the Cold War.

  • Fantastic resource to the Tri-Cities! You will find weekend activities, a gift shop, guest presentations and a relevant museum. The museum is small but packed full with a pluthera of information on Hanford and its WWII connection, geological history and the Columbia Basins' natural resources. Plan to spend at least 2 hours. Buy a family pass and support the museum then visits hundreds of other reciprocating museums FREE.
